Fox Creek Farm
Fox Creek Farm is owned and operated by Shelby and John Quinn. Shelby grew up on a small horse farm, Happy Daze Farm, in the neighboring town of Berlin. Fox Creek Farm and Happy Daze Farm work together to offer the finest riding lesson and summer camp programs in central Vermont.
Shelby grew up aboard Rosemount Flashy Aristocrat, a registered Welsh A gelding. Flashy was one of those one in a million ponies who was worth his weight in gold. Shelby showed Flashy in Leadline, Walk-Trot, and Short Stirrup. At the age of eleven, Shelby bought (with her own money) a 4 yr old unstarted Welsh mare, Galloping Hill Tigerlilly. Shelby trained, showed, and then very sadly sold Tigerlilly. Tigerlilly went on to teach many many more children. With limited funds, Shelby was often starting and showing green ponies. That is how it all began...today, Shelby is breeding and training her own ponies and will also accept training ponies.
Shelby was teaching riding lessons at the age of 16 under the watchful eye of her mother, Pam. With nearly 10 years of experience, Shelby has taught many children's and adult riding lessons - she has worked as a riding instructor at Happy Daze Farm and previously taught at Steeple Ridge Farm in Charlotte and Cedar Ridge Farm in Barre. Many of Shelby's students compete at VHJA (Vermont Horse Shows Association) horse shows. In 2007, Shelby and John plan to expand the riding program at Fox Creek with the addition of a new ring and barn.
